How do people find their way forward when they have experienced a traumatic change?

Gary Karp took that journey in 1973 at the age of 18 when he fell out of a tree and became paralyzed.

He is here to share what he’s discovered about how people not only move forward, but thrive with their disabilities. And he’s here to shed some light on how a therapist makes a real difference in how that process works.

Gary is a well-known disability awareness writer, journalist, speaker, and trainer. The value of his work was acknowledged in 2007 when he was inducted into the Spinal Cord injury Hall of Fame as a Disability Educator.

He is the author of a definitive guide to living fully as a wheelchair user, “Life On Wheels,” as well as his exploration of intimacy and relationship, “Disability & the Art of Kissing.

Among his other accomplishments — some pretty sophisticated juggling skills, which he will soon be demonstrating for you!

Gary is with us today thanks to the sponsorship of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center, and his co-sponsor, TiLite Wheelchairs. So please welcome — Gary Karp.
