Korean Spinal Cord Injury Association

To whom it may concern,

It is a true pleasure for me to write this testimonial letter for Mr. Gary Karp, who, as guest speaker, attended our conference on Sex After Spinal Cord Injury in Seoul, Korea, 2012. It was definitely an honor for us and for the Korean Spinal Cord Injury Association to have an internationally recognized public speaker and author such as Gary as our guest. We so appreciated his willingness to face the adventure of coming to a country where he had never been to before to inspire many Koreans living with spinal cord injury.

Being paraplegic, Gary understands topics related to spinal cord injury and disability firsthand. His valuable wisdom, insight, and extensive knowledge on various areas definitely surprised and delighted our audience. He is an articulate communicator with the ability to capture people’s attention and interest. Through it all he proved himself professional and competent.

What also impressed me was his positive attitude, especially in reaction to uncomfortable and difficult aspects of living with spinal cord injury. He has transformed his disability into the ability to inspire and encourage others.

KSCIA is also indebted to Gary for his permission to allow us to translate his book, “Life On Wheels” into Korean. The copies are to be distributed to our members with spinal cord injuries and we expect our members will be encouraged and challenged by the book.

I’d highly recommend other organizations and groups to invite Gary to help them enhance disability awareness in their community, change old beliefs about disability, provide for a better workplace environment, and many more issues regarding disability. You will find him and his training program very beneficial just as we did!

Sincerely,

Haeseop Kim
